I’ve never made soup before so here we are. Cue swearing.
In a first for Cooking with Kelis, I was neither drunk nor hungover when I decided to do this – I was just really fucking bored.
I had spent the majority of the day trying to leave the flat but the allure of a bath and Harry Potter (I am currently making my way through the books – an other first for Cooking with Kelis) was very strong and very real. After a particularly long bath, detention with Professor Umbridge and several coffees later I finally made it out the door.
The ingredients for this hardly set the world on fire. Also I have finally got to a place where my ‘larder’ is now pretty full from all this Kelis bullshit. I no longer need to trawl the aisles looking lost.
There was however, shit loads of chopping and dicing to be had. The chopping and purĂ©eing (that’s a word right?) of the tomatoes was an absolute joy.
The onion however for obvious reasons was a complete bitch – why go for the eyes man? C’mon onion, don’t be a bitch about it.
Once I was all chopped up and no where to go, there was nothing much else to do apart from actually y’know making the soup.
But there’s no fun is this was a success right? I of course forgot one ingredient: the basil. In my excitement of actually being outside, I over looked one key ingredient and ended up with Tomato Basil Bisque.
I mean, the clue is in the title.
Anyway after everything else was added it looked pretty banging and I don’t think it actually needed the basil cause in true Kelis fashion, there was a lot going on.
I was only in the kitchen for like an hour, which is nothing in the grand scheme of this blog so I was able to go back to the bath, read more Harry Potter and resent real life.
It tasted pretty good, maybe I didn’t ‘puree’ long enough (or maybe I’m just shit) but it would have made a gorgeous pasta sauce instead of a soup.
Still no clue what Bisque is.

[…] Ross making a Kelis soup on Insta and it looked amazing. He’s blogged about his first time soup experience over on his blog, it’s a great read, I highly recommend it. This soup came back to me through my tonsillitis […]
